Activities

The FASNY Firemen's Home is proud to host a variety of special events for fire departments and other fire service organizations throughout New York State. Fire departments and their auxiliary members plan visits to the Home each month to play games and engage in activities with our members. These visitations allow members to stay in touch with the current fire service, making them feel connected to the fire service that was once such an integral part of their lives.

Besides monthly visits from fire service organizations, members enjoy participating in all sorts of activities, from daily programs such as art classes, pet therapy and gardening in the warmer months, to special events like karaoke get-togethers, softball competitions and local conventions. Plus, members can play shuffleboard, billiards or get a group of friends together to play cards at any time in a cozy lounge or activity room. Members are also invited to partake in outings to local shops, restaurants and area attractions with transportation arranged by the Home.

Additionally, the Home houses a chapel presenting interdenominational services and opportunity for reflection, and serves as the grounds for the FASNY Museum of Firefighting. This renowned museum provides a wonderful opportunity for members to not only learn about firefighting history, but to volunteer if they so wish.

All of this and more help to maintain the members’ firefighting lifestyle that they’ve known and loved for so long at the FASNY Firemen’s Home.
